Digital signage that people actually read
KINNEX Team4 min read
Many signage projects start with screens and end with a loop nobody watches.
Start with the message
Who is looking, from where, for how long? A lobby screen gets seconds. A canteen board gets minutes.
Content rules
- Few words, large type, high contrast.
- One idea per screen.
- Fresh content, scheduled by day and time.
- Avoid dense spreadsheets.
Hardware
Commercial displays are built for long hours and brightness. Choose size for viewing distance, and brightness for the room, higher near windows and outdoors.
Players and management
A central management system updates all screens, schedules content and alerts when a screen fails. Check security of the players on the network.
Placement
Eye level for reading, away from glare, near where people pause: lifts, queues, reception.
Interactive uses
Wayfinding, directories and queue displays work well with touch or integration with booking systems.
Maintenance
Plan cleaning, replacement and content ownership. Someone must own the message.
